RDI’s mission is to “build leadership networks and rural communities.” Led by Rural Development Initiatives (RDI), the Powered by Rural campaign is designed to increase awareness of rural issues and opportunities, strengthen rural communities by giving a voice to rural people, and provide the tools and resources to take action and help increase community vitality.

Powered by Rural will help rural communities highlight their assets and the activated and engaged people who are making a difference. Powered by Rural will be the platform rural communities need to shine a light on their efforts. Those who join the campaign will be able to connect on various levels, both virtually and in person.

Through our Powered by Rural Facebook page you can weigh in on hot topics, get updates on ways to get involved in your communities, and read and share stories of people making a difference. You can also use our Facebook application to take the Powered by Rural Challenge to tell us about your positive actions and to be counted among rural leaders all over the Pacific Northwest! Another networking opportunity is our RIPPLE website. RIPPLE is an online community of rural citizens and a place to connect around rural issues, learn from the experiences of rural people, and share resources that support community development in rural areas. On RIPPLE you can sign up for notifications, bookmark content, and join focused discussion groups to network and share ideas. RDI will also feature activated and engaged rural leaders on our website and in our newsletter.
