The USDA is now accepting applications for the Rural Energy for America Program, which provides assistance to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to complete a variety of projects, including renewable energy systems, energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy development, energy audits, and feasibility studies.
For 2012, USDA has about $25.4 million in budget authority available to fund REAP activities, which will support $12.5 million in grants and about $48.5 million in guaranteed loan program awards.
Applications for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvement grants, as well as combination grant and guaranteed loan applications, are due by March 30. So are feasibility study applications for renewable energy systems.
Applications for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvement guaranteed loans will be accepted through June 29. Applications for energy audits and renewable energy development assistance are due by February 21.
