Leap of faith lands successful business for Oregon entrepreneur.

This video, the first in a series created by and about entrepreneurs in rural Oregon, tells the story of Mary Stevenson, a single mom who decided to take a leap of faith and open her own business in Baker City, Oregon.

Mary opened Earth and Vine Art and Wine Gallery in the heart of the recession, because she knew that even when the economy is bad, especially when the economy is bad, people want to connect with their community. August 2010

The Rural Economy Project

The Rural Economy Project is a partnership between community organizations and Oregon Public Broadcasting to showcase the stories of successful entrepreneurs, people trying to make ends meet, and communities working to build stable, vital economies in Oregon’s rural towns. The stories are designed to inspire sustainable community building and raise awareness of RIPPLE resources available to small business owners and the unemployed.
